Formatting Hamlet Quotes in MLA Format
Hamlet quotes – William Shakespeare wrote 37 plays during his life. “The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark” – or simply “Hamlet” – is among the most recognized pieces of it. Numerous studies on “Hamlet” were led by students and academics. The style of “Modern Language Association” (Modern Language Association or MLA) is a natural format for these analyzes. The MLA style provides guidance on writing and documentation of research related to human, literature and language. The MLA prescribes as pieces like “Hamlet” should be cited and referenced within an article.
1. Enter short quote with a reference to the character or piece. Short Hamlet quotes are those that have three lines or less in verse when typed.
2. Include short quotations in quotation marks and separate the lines with bar marks (/). Leave a space on each side of the bar. Include any score that is originally on the back. For example: Horace Ghost said, “And then started as a guilty object / about a fearful summons”
3. Follow the Hamlet quotes with a reference to the act, scene and statements from which it was taken. Add the information in parentheses. Enter a point after the act and scene, no spaces.
